As a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the humanitarian deployment of new technologies capable of combatting problems resulting from human activity, AltruTek maintains a close relationship with a pioneering tech company, ArroTech.
Headquartered in Panama City Beach, Florida, and with a manufacturing facility in Germany, ArroTech has developed the world’s first purpose-built, autonomous drone/metal-detecting system for safely and efficiently locating landmines and unexploded ordnance. Called the GEON E61, the system has been carefully engineered and is currently the fastest, safest, and most accurate metal detection system available.
The GEON E61 represents an order-of-magnitude increase in performance over current methodologies consisting of largely handheld and cart-based systems that are slow and expensive. In addition, those approaches place ordnance disposal personnel at great risk because they required that operators enter fields contaminated with unseen and easily triggered weapons.
The drone, proceeding in flight at two meters per second, can scan fields for the presence of landmines and UXO some 25 times more quickly than traditional devices.
The GEON E61 has been rigorously tested in the U.S. and Europe. In the past two years, it has been subjected to tests by government officials in Ukraine. Personnel at the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the International Peacekeeping and Security Center have said the GEON E61 is the best detection system they’ve ever witnessed. Both organizations were impressed that the drone can find targets including Russia’s PFM 1 mine, which contains less than one gram of metal.
At present, AltruTek is working to raise $500,000, which would cover the cost for ArroTech to scan 1,000 acres in Ukraine. While that is but a tiny percentage of the land that needs to be scanned and cleared of lethal, unattended explosives, the 1,000 acres would represent a significant demonstration project with the potential to lead to a widescale demining effort.
Please consider contributing to AltruTek today. Your support will help restore the safety and economic security of Ukraine.
